Privacy Policy

Student Planner is a small, independently-developed app for tracking classes, tasks, tests, and study progress. This page explains what data the app collects, why, and what control you have over it. It's written in plain language on purpose — if anything here is unclear, reach out (contact details at the bottom).

Using the app without an account

You can use Student Planner as a guest without ever creating an account. Guest data is stored only on your own device (in your browser's local storage) and is never sent to any server. If you uninstall the app or clear your browser's site data, guest data is gone for good — there's no backup, because nothing was ever uploaded.

What we collect if you create an account

  • Account info — your email address and display name, via Google Sign-In or email/password (handled by Firebase Authentication). We never see or store your password ourselves.
  • The academic data you enter — your schedule, tasks, tests, subjects, grades, study topics, and focus session logs — synced to a private cloud database (Firestore) so it's available across your devices. Every record is tied to your account and access-controlled so only you can read or write it.
  • A push notification token, only if you turn on class/deadline reminders — used solely to deliver those reminders, and removed if you turn reminders off.
  • A Google Calendar connection, only if you turn on Calendar sync (Settings) — see its own section below for exactly what this involves.
  • Basic usage analytics (via Firebase Analytics) — general, aggregated app usage, not the content of what you enter. On by default; turn it off any time from Settings' Privacy card.

Google Calendar sync (optional)

Turning this on in Settings connects your own Google Calendar so your classes, tasks, and quizzes automatically stay up to date there. It's entirely opt-in — nothing about your Google Calendar is touched unless you turn this on.

Concretely, once connected:

  • Google gives us a long-lived authorization token, scoped only to creating/updating/deleting events on your calendar (it can't read your existing events, calendar list, or anything else in your Google account). We store that token on our own server (a Cloudflare Worker we operate), never in your browser or on your device.
  • That same server periodically reads your schedule, task, and quiz data (the same data already described above) to build the matching Calendar events, and pushes updates — it doesn't keep a separate permanent copy of that content beyond what's needed to detect what changed since the last sync.
  • Disconnecting (Settings, or revoking access directly from your Google Account's own permissions page) immediately invalidates that token — either path works independently of the other.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell or share your data with advertisers or other third parties.
  • We don't read the academic content you enter for any purpose beyond making the app work for you.
  • We don't run ads in the app.

Who processes this data

The app runs on Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Analytics, Cloud Messaging). Reminder delivery, and — only if you turn it on — Google Calendar sync, are both handled by a small Cloudflare Worker we operate ourselves: for reminders alone, it only ever sees your device token and the reminder text; if Calendar sync is on, it additionally holds your Calendar authorization token and reads your schedule/task/quiz data to keep your Calendar in sync, as described above. Calendar sync itself is, naturally, also processed by Google on the receiving end, the same as any other Google Calendar API integration.

Deleting your Student Planner account and data

You can permanently delete your Student Planner account and every piece of data tied to it, from inside the app, at any time:

  1. Open Student Planner and sign in to the account you want to delete.
  2. Go to Settings → Data & account.
  3. Tap Delete account and confirm. If you're asked to sign in again first, that's just Google/Firebase requiring a recent sign-in before a destructive action — sign in and repeat this step.

This immediately and permanently deletes, with no retention period — nothing is kept:

  • Your account itself (email/password or Google sign-in link, display name).
  • Every piece of academic data you entered — schedule, tasks, tests/quizzes, subjects, grades, study topics, focus session logs, and app settings — across every device.
  • Your push-notification device token, if notifications were on.
  • Your Google Calendar connection, if you had it on — we delete the secondary "Student Planner" calendar we created and revoke the authorization token with Google directly, not just stop using it on our end.

The one exception: aggregated, non-identifying Firebase Analytics events already sent before deletion aren't something we can selectively delete per account — they're anonymous usage counts, not tied back to you once your account is gone, and age out under Google's own default Analytics retention window, not something we control or extend.

Don't have account access anymore (lost the password, lost the linked Google account)? Email support@danplace.tech from the address on the account and we'll delete it manually — same scope, same "nothing kept" outcome as above.

Your controls

  • Export everything you've entered as a JSON file, any time, from Settings.
  • Delete your account from Settings — see Deleting your account and data above for exactly what that removes.
  • Turn off notifications any time from Settings, which also removes your device token.
  • Disconnect Google Calendar any time from Settings, which revokes the authorization token with Google directly (not just stops using it on our end) — or revoke it yourself from your Google Account's own permissions page, which works just as well.
  • Turn off usage analytics any time from Settings' Privacy card.

Children's privacy

Student Planner is a study tool aimed at students, including those under 18. We don't knowingly collect more than the account info and academic data described above, and we don't require any information beyond what's needed to make the app work.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the "last updated" date at the top will change too.
